Quetta : In a landmark achievement for higher education in Balochistan, the Balochistan Education Endowment Fund (BEEF) has awarded 42,893 scholarships over the past 16 months, directly benefiting students across the province. A total of Rs. 3.05 billion has been disbursed to students and educational institutions through a transparent, fully digital, and merit-based scholarship system.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti and Finance Secretary Imran Zarkoon, BEEF has undergone a significant transformation. The current government has added a historic Rs. 6 billion to the fund and introduced six new fully funded scholarship schemes, including the prestigious Foreign PhD Scholarship Program and the Oxford-Pakistan Scholarship.
These initiatives aim to provide international higher education opportunities to talented students from Balochistan. This year alone, 10 high-achieving students have been selected to pursue advanced studies in medical sciences, pharmaceutical sciences, aviation, and other modern scientific fields at globally recognized universities.
Since its establishment, BEEF has awarded over 101,050 scholarships between 2015 and 2025, distributing more than Rs. 10 billion. The program focuses on education accessibility, global standard learning, and equal opportunities for students from every district, including remote areas of the province.
Key features of the reformed BEEF system include:
- Full digitization of the scholarship process
- Merit-based selection criteria
- Transparent digital verification
- Strict accountability mechanisms
- Automated data tracking and modern banking integration for timely disbursement
For the first time, the scholarship cycle has been synchronized with the academic calendar, and all pending applications have been resolved, ensuring efficient and timely scholarship delivery.
BEEF’s success story reflects the broader educational reforms in Pakistan, aiming to empower the youth of Balochistan with quality education and global exposure — a significant stride toward a more inclusive and knowledge-driven future.
