Quetta: Under the vision of Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti and Provincial Education Minister Raheela Hameed Durrani, the School Education Department Balochistan, with the support of UNICEF and the European Union (EU), has launched the successful establishment of Parents, Teachers, and School Management Committees (PTSMCs) across the province.
According to official data, a total of 1,068 schools in various districts have formed these committees, comprising over 11,000 elected members through a fair and transparent process. The initiative aims to enhance transparency, accountability, and community participation in the education system of Balochistan.
The PTSMCs will monitor school performance, ensure efficient use of resources, promote student enrollment and attendance, and help resolve local education challenges. The project is a significant step toward improving education governance and strengthening partnerships between parents, teachers, and local communities.
To facilitate smooth implementation, the Director of Schools has appointed District Education Officers as focal persons in all districts to oversee the committees’ formation, functionality, and problem resolution.
As part of this initiative, members of the Local Education Council at Government Boys High School Margha Zakriazai, Tehsil Naan Sahib, District Pishin, took oath for a three-year term in a ceremony attended by parents, tribal elders, education officials, and government representatives.
The Government of Balochistan reaffirmed its commitment to empowering local communities in education, promoting inclusive governance, and achieving quality and stability in the provincial education system through transparent and participatory approaches.
