Quetta: A high-level conference of Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners was held under the chairmanship of Balochistan Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan, in which key governance and administrative matters were reviewed. The meeting focused on temporary appointments of teachers and paramedical staff in the Health and Education Departments, price control of essential commodities, enforcement of the ban on plastic bags, and the provision of public services through open kutcheries. Speaking at the conference, the Chief Secretary said that the provincial government is utilizing available resources to launch various developmental schemes and provide public facilities aimed at improving the quality of life of the people. He emphasized that all administrative bodies and institutions must accelerate their efforts so that every citizen can access better and more satisfactory living conditions. He directed that in the third phase, transparent recruitment should be ensured for vacant posts in the Education and Health Departments. Highlighting environmental conservation measures, he said that a ban on plastic bags has been imposed in Quetta and across Balochistan, and citizens are being encouraged to use eco-friendly alternatives. The Chief Secretary stressed the need for strict monitoring of essential commodity prices to ensure their sale at government-approved rates. The meeting was informed that during the month of November, over 17,000 market inspections were conducted across the province. He further instructed that open kutcheries be regularly organized to establish direct contact with the public and resolve their issues promptly. The Chief Secretary added that developmental projects are vital for public welfare, as they provide fundamental facilities and improve social living standards. Timely completion of these projects, he noted, will create employment opportunities and foster progress in key sectors such as education and health.
