Quetta: At least 67 terrorists were killed in large-scale counter-terrorism operations launched across Balochistan after a wave of coordinated attacks targeted law-enforcement agencies at multiple locations, officials confirmed on Saturday. The attacks, carried out simultaneously in different districts, triggered an immediate and robust response by security forces.
Officials said terrorists associated with Fitna Al Hindustan carried out assaults at 12 locations across the province, targeting police and other security personnel. In response, police, Frontier Corps (FC), and allied law-enforcement agencies launched swift operations that successfully neutralized the attackers and prevented further escalation.
Shahid Hamid Rind, Assistant to the Chief Minister on Media and Political Affairs, said the terrorists launched multiple planned attacks against police and other law-enforcement personnel in various parts of Balochistan. He stated that security forces successfully monitored and thwarted the terrorist assaults, demonstrating high levels of coordination and preparedness. He added that the response saved countless civilian lives and disrupted the terrorists’ wider agenda.
During the clashes, 10 police and security personnel embraced martyrdom, highlighting the heavy sacrifices made in the line of duty. In another tragic incident, terrorists targeted a civilian family in Gwadar, resulting in the loss of several innocent lives.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, who arrived in Quetta to oversee the evolving security situation, strongly condemned the attacks and paid tribute to the fallen personnel. He reiterated the federal government’s commitment to eliminating terrorism and assured that those responsible would be pursued without compromise.
Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti visited the site of the explosion in Quetta, reviewed security arrangements, and praised the bravery of police and other security personnel engaged in the fight against terrorism. He later met the bereaved family members of a market policeman, where emotional and heartbreaking scenes were witnessed as the chief minister expressed condolences and solidarity with the grieving family.
As a precautionary measure, mobile phone services remained suspended in Quetta and several other parts of Balochistan, while train services between Balochistan and other parts of the country were also halted due to looming security threats.
Authorities said search and clearance operations remain underway, with heightened security, reinforced checkpoints, and aerial surveillance across sensitive areas. Hospitals were placed on high alert, and residents were urged to remain vigilant as investigations continue.
