News Desk: The United States has strongly denounced the recent terrorist attacks in Balochistan and reiterated its commitment to supporting Pakistan’s efforts to maintain peace and stability. US Charge d’Affaires Natalie Baker condemned the January 31 attacks, describing them as brutal acts of terrorism against civilians and security personnel, allegedly carried out by the proscribed Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA).
In her statement, Baker expressed condolences to the families of the victims and all those affected by the violence, stressing that Pakistanis have the right to live without fear or insecurity. She reaffirmed that the United States stands as a steadfast partner of Pakistan and remains committed to cooperation aimed at countering terrorism and ensuring regional stability. The BLA is listed by the US as a Foreign Terrorist Organisation.
The condemnation followed a series of coordinated attacks across multiple districts of Balochistan, including Quetta, Nushki, Panjgur and Gwadar. Security forces launched intelligence-based operations in response, killing dozens of militants and foiling attempts to target sensitive installations. Officials said the attacks were part of a wider effort to destabilise the province, which the state links to Fitna-al-Hindustan, a term used for Balochistan-based militant networks allegedly backed from abroad.
Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti said authorities had received intelligence warnings prior to the attacks and had initiated pre-emptive actions. He described the killing of women and children in Gwadar as the most tragic aspect of the violence and vowed that those involved would be pursued without compromise.
Defence Minister Khawaja Asif stated that security forces had repelled the coordinated assaults and that clearance and mopping-up operations were continuing. Several other countries, including the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, have also condemned the attacks, underscoring growing international concern over terrorism in Balochistan.
