Staff Reporter: Quetta, February 1:

The Government of Balochistan has imposed Section 144 across the province for a period of one month, enforcing strict restrictions on public activities to maintain law and order amid prevailing security concerns.

According to a notification issued by the Home Department, the provincial government has banned the display and use of weapons, pillion riding on motorcycles, and the use of unregistered vehicles. The order also prohibits vehicles with tinted windows throughout Balochistan.

In addition, all forms of public gatherings have been barred, including sit-ins, rallies, processions, and assemblies involving five or more people. The notification further restricts the covering of faces in public places through mufflers, masks, or any other means that could obstruct personal identification.

Officials stated that the decision was taken under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) to prevent any untoward incidents and ensure public safety. The restrictions have come into force with immediate effect and will remain valid for one month.

Authorities have warned that violations of the order will invite strict legal action under relevant laws. Law enforcement agencies across the province have been directed to ensure effective implementation of the restrictions.

The provincial government has urged citizens to cooperate with security agencies and comply with the imposed measures in the larger interest of peace and stability in Balochistan.
