News Desk:Â The Government of Balochistan has launched a strict austerity drive, directing the immediate return of official vehicles from unauthorized individuals. Chairing a review meeting on national austerity measures, Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti ordered that vehicles currently in use by former governors, chief ministers, ministers, legislators, senior officials, and irrelevant personnel must be reclaimed. He warned that violators would face legal and administrative action.
The meeting approved a full audit of all government vehicles, with fuel to be issued only to verified and registered ones. It was also decided that vehicles manufactured before 2005 would be auctioned in phases, while a rationalization plan would streamline the government fleet.
A ban has been imposed on the use of official vehicles after office hours, with disciplinary action against violators. Exceptions will only be allowed with prior approval from competent authorities. To ensure accountability, trackers will be installed in all government vehicles, their movement outside the province prohibited, and intra-city travel monitored through Safe City cameras.
Chief Minister Bugti emphasized that public resources must not be wasted under any circumstances. He vowed strict enforcement of austerity measures and warned that misuse of government vehicles would invite action without discrimination.
