News Desk: The Government of Balochistan has enforced sweeping reforms to curb misuse of official vehicles, imposing a complete ban on their use after office hours without prior approval. The decision was taken during a high-level review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti in Quetta on April 7, 2026, as part of broader austerity and transparency measures.

Under the new policy, all government vehicles currently in unauthorized possession must be returned immediately. The directive applies to former governors, ex-chief ministers, former ministers, lawmakers, retired officials, and other non-entitled individuals. Officials have warned that strict legal and departmental action will be taken against violators.

To ensure accountability, the government has ordered a comprehensive audit of the entire official vehicle fleet. Fuel supply will now be limited strictly to verified and authorized vehicles only. Additionally, vehicles manufactured before 2005 will be gradually phased out through auction, while efforts to rationalize the overall fleet have also been approved.

The meeting further decided that all government vehicles will be equipped with GPS tracking systems to monitor their movement. Unauthorized use beyond office hours will not be tolerated, and any officer found violating the rules will face disciplinary proceedings. Moreover, taking official vehicles outside the province without prior permission has been strictly banned.

To strengthen oversight, Safe City surveillance cameras will be used to monitor the movement of official vehicles within urban areas, ensuring transparency and effective enforcement.

Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti reiterated that misuse of public resources will not be tolerated under any circumstances, directing authorities to take across-the-board action to ensure efficient and responsible use of government assets.
