Ali Hamza, Qaseem Shah:

Multiple civilian casualties have reportedly occurred due to unprovoked cross-border firing by the Afghan Taliban in Pakistan’s Bajaur district, according to security sources. The incidents have sparked serious concerns over what locals describe as the “criminal silence” of international media outlets and global human rights organizations.

Security sources stated that, through coordinated efforts, the district administration of Bajaur conducted a detailed assessment of the damages inflicted on the civilian population following repeated firing incidents from across the border.

According to official figures, six separate firing incidents were reported during March and April. As a result, at least nine civilians were martyred, including three women, one minor girl, and five minor boys. Another 12 civilians sustained injuries, among them seven women, one minor boy, and four adults. Several residential houses were also severely damaged in the attacks.

Local residents praised the timely response and support provided by Pakistan’s security forces and the district administration. Residents also expressed full support for measures aimed at countering what they termed as illegal aggression by the Afghan Taliban regime.

The incidents have also raised questions among locals regarding the silence of the United Nations, international human rights bodies, and major global media organizations. Residents criticized international outlets for allegedly ignoring civilian casualties caused by Afghan Taliban firing while widely covering other regional narratives.

Security sources emphasized that the repeated targeting of civilian areas remains a serious humanitarian concern requiring international attention.
