QUETTA, May 1, 2026: The Balochistan government and opposition leaders held an important round of talks in Quetta on Thursday, signaling efforts to maintain political dialogue amid ongoing discussions over madrassa registration and other key provincial matters.
The government delegation was led by Provincial Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langove and included Provincial Ministers Mir Ali Madad Jatak and Mir Barkat Rind along with other officials.
Senior opposition leaders also attended the meeting, including JUI-F Balochistan chief Senator Maulana Abdul Wasey, Opposition Leader in the Balochistan Assembly Mir Younis Aziz Zehri, PAC Chairman Asghar Tareen, opposition MPA Syed Zafar Agha, and MNA Usman Badini.
According to participants, the meeting focused on madrassa registration, political affairs, and issues related to religious institutions in the province. Both sides agreed to continue consultations and keep communication channels open in the coming days.
Speaking during the meeting, Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langove said religious seminaries have historically played a vital role in Islamic education and unity within the Muslim world. He said madrassas continue to produce religious scholars and Huffaz who contribute to society.
Langove also highlighted Balochistan’s diversity, describing the province as a blend of different ethnicities and religions living together. He praised Maulana Abdul Wasey as an experienced and respected political figure.
Provincial Minister Mir Ali Madad Jatak said it is important for political and religious stakeholders to understand the government’s position on madrassa-related matters. He added that the provincial government has consistently tried to take opposition and religious parties into confidence before making important decisions.
He said the government delegation’s visit to opposition leaders reflected seriousness and willingness to resolve issues through dialogue rather than confrontation.
The meeting comes at a time when discussions around madrassa registration and political coordination remain an important issue in Balochistan politics.
