Zeeshan Ahmed:
Islamabad, May 4: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti met JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman in Islamabad on Monday amid growing political tensions over the registration and regulation of religious seminaries in Balochistan.
During the meeting, both leaders discussed the province’s law and order situation, political developments, and the recent controversy surrounding madrassas. They agreed that issues related to religious seminaries should be resolved through dialogue.
The meeting comes days after JUI-F Balochistan Ameer Maulana Abdul Wasey strongly criticized the provincial government and warned of launching a “tough opposition” campaign against its policies. He had stated that JUI-F would not allow the Balochistan Assembly proceedings to continue smoothly if pressure on madrassas persisted.
JUI-F leaders have accused the government of targeting religious institutions and described the ongoing registration measures as a “conspiracy against religious schools” in the province.
Sources said Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti will also meet JUI-F’s provincial leadership in Quetta on Tuesday in an effort to reduce tensions and continue political consultations on the issue.
Senior JUI-F leaders Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, Maulana Salahuddin Ayubi, and Maulana Asjad Mahmood also attended the Islamabad meeting.
