Turbat — University of Turbat successfully organized a comprehensive lecture session on Research Grant Proposal Writing, aimed at strengthening academic research capacity and enhancing funding success rates among scholars and faculty members.

The session, hosted by the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC), took place in the university’s newly established Smart Classroom. It witnessed active participation from faculty members, administrative staff, as well as MPhil and PhD scholars, highlighting growing interest in research funding, proposal development, and academic innovation.

 

The keynote speaker and resource person, Professor Dr. Javed Ahmed Shahani from Sukkur IBA University, delivered an insightful lecture focusing on effective research proposal writing techniques, grant acquisition strategies, and international funding standards. Dr. Shahani, who serves as Professor and Director ORIC at Sukkur IBA, holds two PhDs from European universities and has completed a postdoctoral fellowship at NTNU, Norway, under prestigious programs including the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship.

 

During the session, Dr. Shahani emphasized key aspects such as:

Idea development and research innovation

Structuring high-quality grant proposals

Aligning proposals with funding agency requirements

Practical strategies for securing international research grants

In his welcome address, Director ORIC, Dr. Muhammad Yaseen, stated that this initiative reflects the university’s commitment—under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Gul Hassan—to promote a strong research culture and enhance access to national and international research funding opportunities.

In his message, the Vice Chancellor appreciated ORIC’s efforts in organizing the session and thanked Dr. Shahani for his valuable contribution. He highlighted that such capacity-building activities play a crucial role in enabling researchers to compete globally for funded research projects.

The event concluded with the formal inauguration of the state-of-the-art Smart Classroom, established under the Erasmus+ CBHE RAPID Project, funded by the European Commission. The project is led by Sukkur IBA University, with Dr. Shahani serving as the Project Coordinator.
