Rawalpindi : According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Staff (CDF), has concluded a short yet highly productive official visit to Iran.
The visit formed part of ongoing diplomatic and mediation efforts aimed at promoting regional peace, de-escalation, and constructive engagement amid tensions that have persisted following the ceasefire of April 8, 2026.
During the visit, Field Marshal Asim Munir held high-level meetings with key Iranian leaders, including Masoud Pezeshkian, President of Iran; Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf; Abbas Araghchi; and Eskandar Momeni.
Discussions focused on accelerating the ongoing consultative process designed to support regional stability, strengthen diplomatic engagement, and facilitate progress toward a comprehensive and lasting agreement. The talks emphasized cooperation, dialogue, and peaceful conflict resolution as key pillars for regional security.
The engagements were conducted in a positive and constructive atmosphere, contributing significantly to the mediation process. Intensive negotiations held over the past 24 hours yielded encouraging progress toward achieving a final understanding and advancing broader regional peace efforts.
The Iranian leadership expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s sincere, balanced, and constructive role in facilitating dialogue, reducing tensions, and promoting peaceful solutions to regional challenges.
Upon arrival in Iran, Field Marshal Asim Munir was received by Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni along with senior civil and military officials, underscoring the importance attached to the visit and the growing diplomatic engagement between Pakistan and Iran.
