A powerful blast has rocked Chaman, Pakistan’s bordering city with Afghanistan. The blast has left five people dead and injured 21, Muhammad Mohsin, a police officer said. The injured have been shifted to civil hospital Chaman for medical treatment.
Mohsin said an improvised explosive device was planted in a motorcycle parked on the roadside on Chaman’s Mall road. The IED exploded with a big bang causing panic in the city. An emergency was declared in the hospital to treat the injured of the blast.
Police and other law enforcement agencies personnel were quick at the spot. Zakaullah Durrani, the Assistant Commissioner Chaman told the daily Quetta Voice a vehicle of anti-narcotics force was the target of the blast. He said two ANF personnel were also among the injured.
The blast smashed glasses of nearby shops and markets in the area. Miscreants in the past have also carried out low-scale bomb explosions in Chaman. A blast near Levies Line Chaman had injured 8 people.
Chief Minister Balochistan, Jam Kamal Khan strongly condemned the blast and expressed grief and sorrows over the loss of precious human lives. In a statement issued to the press after the blast, Jam Kamal said terrorists involved in the attack would not be spared.
