Islamabad : A Senate subcommittee has proposed conducting the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) twice a year instead of once, aiming to provide students with more opportunities to secure admission to medical and dental colleges.
During the meeting, the committee expressed concerns over several challenges facing the medical education sector in Pakistan, including high tuition fees charged by private medical colleges, limited employment opportunities for medical graduates, and low salary packages for healthcare professionals.
The committee directed the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) to submit recommendations on these issues. It was also decided that students and university vice chancellors will be invited to participate in the next meeting to discuss reforms and challenges in greater detail.
The Senate subcommittee emphasized the need for comprehensive reforms, transparency, and immediate solutions to student concerns in the medical and dental education system.
