By News Desk: In a major move to maintain peace and security during Muharram-ul-Haram, the Government of Balochistan has imposed strict restrictions under Section 144 across the province, introducing a series of security measures aimed at preventing sectarian tensions and ensuring public safety.

According to an official notification issued by the provincial Home Department, the restrictions will remain in force from 1st Muharram to 10th Muharram. Authorities have also reserved the right to extend or withdraw the restrictions depending on the prevailing security situation.

The notification prohibits the publication, distribution, display, and online circulation of any sectarian, provocative, hateful, or inflammatory material that could incite unrest or disturb public order. The ban covers all forms of communication, including social media platforms and other digital channels.

To strengthen security arrangements during the holy month, authorities have also imposed a ban on the public display and carrying of arms and ammunition throughout the province. However, personnel from law enforcement agencies and other authorized officials have been exempted from this restriction.

In Quetta, additional precautionary measures have been introduced, including a complete ban on pillion riding. Moreover, large sound systems and branded loudspeakers brought from outside the district will not be allowed entry without prior approval from the concerned authorities.

The government has also restricted unauthorized individuals from gathering on rooftops, balconies, windows, and other elevated locations situated along the routes of Muharram processions and religious congregations. Only residents of such buildings and individuals specifically authorized by the district administration will be permitted access to these areas.

The Home Department has directed all Deputy Commissioners, police officials, and other law enforcement agencies to ensure strict enforcement of these orders and to take immediate action against any violations.

Officials warned that anyone found violating the provisions of Section 144 would face legal proceedings under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code and other relevant laws.

The provincial government reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order during Muharram and urged citizens to cooperate with the authorities to ensure peaceful observance of the holy month.
