By News Desk: The Balochistan government has invited the Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE) to Quetta for consultations on the proposed Balochistan Media Policy, saying it is open to incorporating stakeholders’ recommendations to ensure the framework is transparent, balanced, and merit-based.
Adviser to the Chief Minister on Political and Media Affairs Shahid Rind said the provincial government believes in free, responsible, and professional journalism and is committed to engaging all relevant media stakeholders before finalizing the policy.
Responding to concerns raised by CPNE, Rind said the government seeks constructive dialogue rather than confrontation with representative media bodies. He emphasized that any reservations or proposals submitted by the organization would receive serious consideration during the consultation process.
“The leadership of CPNE is formally invited to visit Quetta and hold detailed discussions with the Balochistan government,” Rind said, adding that the proposed media policy could be further improved through recommendations from journalists, editors, and media organizations.
He said the government’s objective is to establish a modern media framework that promotes transparency, merit, accountability, and equal opportunities for all media outlets, instead of introducing any discriminatory measures.
Rind added that if consultations identify areas requiring amendments, the provincial government would welcome constructive suggestions to make the policy more practical and effective.
He further said Chief Minister Balochistan has made it clear that the proposed media policy is aimed at strengthening a fair, transparent, and inclusive system that meets modern media standards while ensuring equal treatment for all media organizations.
