Chairman Public Accounts Committee (PAC), Akhtar Hussain Langove on Monday lashed out at the finance department Balochistan for what he called deliberately ignoring his directives. Mr. Langove expressed this anger during a press conference at his office.
Despite repeated directives, the secretary finance is yet to appear before the committee to answer some key questions about his department, Mr. Langove said. The Chairman PAC said some schemes have been issued without publishing any tender notice by the finance department.
He pointed out that Rs. 50 million for the education sector were kept in a private bank, violating the official rules. Thousands of schools are without shelter and roof and the finance department had to answer some key questions in this regard, he added.
Mr. Langove claimed that there were reports of corruption in health and education departments and there was none to answer questions. He pointed out that 19 out of 20 dialysis machines in Quetta’s civil hospital were not functional, which shows poor performance of the health department.
“Bureaucracy considers itself above assembly and constitution”, Nasrullah Zarai, a Pashtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party (PKMAP) legislator said during the press conference. He said this was constitutionally the privilege of the chairman to call any bureaucrat with regard to his department to address some questions.
