QUETTA: Police in Gwadar have registered a case against Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Balochistan chief and provincial assembly member Maulana Hidayat ur Rehman over a video he allegedly recorded and shared on social media concerning an FC security checkpost in the port city.
According to Gwadar police, Maulana Hidayat ur Rehman recorded a video after his vehicle was stopped at a security checkpost and later uploaded the footage to social media. Authorities subsequently initiated legal action over the incident.
The First Information Report (FIR) was registered on the complaint of SHO Bashir Ahmed. Police said the case includes sections 353, 186, 503, 504, 505 and 506 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
According to the FIR, government officials allegedly faced resistance, verbal confrontation and threatening behaviour during the incident at the checkpost. The FIR also mentions that a video of the incident was recorded and subsequently shared on social media.
Police have registered the case and launched further legal proceedings. No further details were immediately available regarding any arrest or court proceedings.
