QUETTA — Balochistan Interior Minister Mir Ziaullah Langau stated on Saturday that security forces in the southern region of the province have foiled a plot by the outlawed Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) to use two underage girls in potential violent attacks.
​Speaking at a news conference alongside the recovered minors—identified by officials as 16-year-old Zainab and 12-year-old Fatima—Langau said the briefing aimed to highlight the tactics used by the banned group. The minister asserted that state intelligence institutions actively work to intercept and disrupt planned operations by such banned factions before they can be executed.
​According to details shared during the press conference, the minister stated that the girls were manipulated by the outlawed group and held in an undisclosed location for around 40 days, where they faced physical and emotional pressure to participate in militant activities.
​During the briefing, Zainab stated that following the death of her husband, a local BLA commander attempted to convince her to seek revenge by attributing his death to security institutions, subsequently involving her cousin Fatima as well.
​The minister stated that security forces acted on targeted intelligence while the girls were being transferred between safehouses, taking them into protective custody. During the session, the two minors expressed relief over their rescue and requested forgiveness from the public and provincial authorities.
