KHARAN: In a alarming development reflecting the volatile security landscape in Balochistan, senior administrative official Muneer Soomro, the Deputy Commissioner of Kharan, has been abducted by unidentified armed assailants.
The incident took place along the main highway connecting Nushki and Kharan, where armed men intercepted the administrator’s movement.
According to initial security disclosures, Soomro was traveling alongside his personal security detail when communication with his vehicle was completely cut off. Mobile devices belonging to the official and his guards have since remained powered off.
Security Forces Mobilized Across Multiple Districts
In response to the incident, law enforcement and security forces across Nushki, Kharan, and Chagai districts have been placed on high alert. Joint search parties comprising local police and security personnel have cordoned off critical transit corridors and launched targeted operations to locate and safely recover the top official.
Authorities have not yet identified the group behind the abduction, and no militant faction has formally claimed responsibility. Investigation teams are currently gathering technical data and eyewitness accounts from the transit point to determine the exact sequence of events.
