QUETTA — The Government of Balochistan has implemented strict security measures across the province, enforcing Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure for 30 days to maintain law and order and safeguard the public.
​The immediate directives prohibit the public display of weapons, assemblies of five or more people, and the covering of faces in public spaces.
​According to notification SO(Judl:II)8(31)/2026/43019-33, issued by Home Secretary Muhammad Hamza Shafqaat, the decision follows intelligence reports indicating potential gatherings and activities that could compromise public safety and disrupt peace.
​Core Restrictions Under the Order
​Ban on Weapons: Carrying, displaying, or using any type of firearm or weapon in public spaces is strictly prohibited, except for authorized security personnel.
​Prohibition of Gatherings: Rallies, processions, demonstrations, sit-ins, and any public gatherings of five or more people are strictly banned.
​Restriction on Face Coverings: Concealing one’s identity in public using masks, mufflers, or any other cloth that obstructs face identification is prohibited.
​Enforcement and Legal Action
​The order takes effect immediately and will remain active for 30 days throughout the province. Law enforcement agencies and district administrations have been directed to strictly enforce these measures. Anyone violating the restrictions will face legal action under the Code of Criminal Procedure.
​Copies of the directive have been dispatched to the Registrar of the Balochistan High Court, the Principal Secretaries to the Chief Minister and Governor, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), all Divisional Commissioners, DIGs, and Superintendents of Police (SPs).
​Government officials stated that these measures aim to preemptively address potential security threats and ensure safety. Authorities have urged citizens to cooperate with law enforcement and adhere to the guidelines to maintain peace across Balochistan.
