Muhammad Faizan Aslam Khan: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Islamabad has indicted lawyer Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chattha in a case related to the removal of barriers.

ATC Judge Tahir Abbas Supra framed charges against Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chattha during Wednesday’s hearing. Both accused appeared before the court through video link.

Chattha objected to the indictment, saying he had not received copies of the case documents. He argued that charges could not be framed before all legal requirements were completed.

Defence lawyer Zainab Janjua also objected, saying neither Imaan Mazari nor Hadi Ali Chattha had received copies of the relevant documents or been allowed to meet their lawyers.

She maintained that the court could not frame charges without fulfilling the required legal formalities.

The court proceeded with the indictment despite the defence objections. Judge Tahir Abbas told Janjua that she could challenge the order before the relevant forum.

The ATC summoned prosecution witnesses for October 9 and ordered that Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chattha be physically produced at the next hearing.

The court adjourned the case until October 9.
