All government departments have been placed on high alert to tackle the situation in the aftermath of heavy rainfall in various districts of Balochistan. Chief Minister, Jam Kamal Khan chaired a high-level meeting to review arrangements with regard to heavy rainfall in the province. The CM was thoroughly briefed about arrangements with regard to rainfall in sensitive districts.
The Chief Minister directed the communication and works department, irrigation department, agriculture, provincial disaster management authority (PDMA) to move machinery to the affected and sensitive districts to cope with the situation.
Jam Kamal Khan also directed the irrigation department to open spillways from Hub dam, which is facing the brunt of torrential rains. The CM also asked the concerned quarters to evacuate populations living near water-ways and rivers across the province.
It was decided to issue required funds to concerned commissioners and deputy commissioners to make sure timely rescue operations and support to the affected people in the case of flooding. The Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO) officials informed the meeting that employees in 14 divisions have been put on high alert and their leave has been cancelled.
