Staff Reporter: Pak-Afghan Iran borders to be closed during Aushora :
In view of security concerns, Pakistan has decided to close its borders with Iran and Afghanistan on the eve of Aushora processions across the country. Muhammad Waris, the Assistant Commissioner Taftan told journalists that border with Iran would remain closed on Sunday (during Aushora).
Strict security measures have been adopted by the security forces to ensure peace on the eve of Aushora. All kinds of trade activities at the Pak-Iran border would be suspended.

Pakistan has also decided to close its border with neighboring Afghanistan tomorrow (Sunday). Frontier Corps (FC) personnel have tightened security avert any untoward incident on the occasion Muharram ul Haram.
Sources said all trade activities at the Pak-Afghan border at the Friendship gate would be suspended. No pedestrian movement would be allowed at the border. However, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) visa section would also be closed.
Balochistan province shares 1200 km border with Afghanistan
Balochistan province shares over 12,00 km border with Afghanistan and Chaman is the only legal entry point. Similarly, Pakistan shares over 900 km of border with neighboring Iran.
Pakistan had earlier closed its borders with Iran and Afghanistan in the aftermath of the outbreak of the novel corona-virus. Quarantine centers were established at Taftan and Chaman to quarantine those entering from Iran and Afghanistan into Pakistan.
Quetta suffered terror acts
Quetta city has suffered the worst type of sectarian terrorist incidents in the past. Keeping in view past sectarian incidents, the federal and provincial governments have decided to close its borders with Iran and Afghanistan to avert any terror act.
On January 10, 2013, over 100 people belonging to Shia Hazara community were killed in twin suicide bombings in Quetta’s Marriabad area. The defunct Sunni militant group, Lashkar e Jhangive had claimed the responsibility for the deadly bombing.

Mobile Service Suspended
Mobile service in Quetta and other parts of the province has also been suspended on the eve of Aushora procession. Thousands of security personnel have been deployed in Quetta city to maintain law and order situation. Over 5,700 police levies men, 2000 FC personnel have also been deployed in the city to ensure peace in the city.
Three brigades of armed forces have also been put on high alert on the eve of Aushora in Quetta.
