Social media plays key role in promotion of Urdu Literature: Durrani

Federal Secretary for Information and Broadcasting, Akbar Hussain Durrani has termed social media’s role important in the promotion of literature. The significance of Urdu literature has not lessened in the rapidly materialistic world, Mr. Durrani told literary figures, authors in Lahore on Saturday.

The Secretary Information urged upon poets and writers to cater to the needs of the present-day world to face the challenges confronting the language. He said the Urdu language was facing numerous challenges these days and only an effective strategy could counter it. Especially, in this era of social media and technology, all-out efforts should be made to promote Urdu and other languages in Pakistan, he said.

Mr. Durrani said poets and writers can play an important role in the promotion of Urdu literature and language. He said the young generation should be sensitized and taught about the importance of literature and its history.

The Secretary Information said poets and writers also played an important role in the creation of Pakistan. “We all have to play our role for strengthening Pakistan”, Mr. Durrani said. He said the present government was determined to promote all languages including the national language Urdu.

“The ministry would extend all possible support”, the Secretary Information assured to the literary figures present on the occasion. Your role cannot be ignored and denied, he told the literary figures, authors, and writers on the occasion.
