Pashtoon Culture Day Observed

QUETTA: Like in other parts of the country, Pashtoon culture day observed in Quetta, Chaman, Zhob, Dukki, and other areas. Stalls established with huts, swords, and other historical things on display to promote Pashtoon culture and history. “Today marks the historic Pashtoon culture day”, Zahoor Ahmed, a young man wearing traditional Pashto turban at Sadiq Shaheed Ground said.
Government promotes culture
The Deputy Speaker National Assembly, Qasim Khan Suri also participated in a cultural show in Quetta to promote Pashtoon culture and history. “This government strives for promotion of culture”, Mr. Suri stated. The participants of the show were wearing traditional Pashto dresses. “Culture and history of nations must be preserved”, the Deputy Speaker National Assembly said.
Main programs organized at Sadiq Shaheed Ground, Khudaidad road, Pashto academy, and other parts of Quetta city. “We want to promote ancient Pashtoon culture”, Nasrullah Zarai, the member provincial assembly from Pashtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party (PKMAP) said.
The Awami National Party (ANP) organized a function regarding the Pashtoon culture day at Khudaid road. President ANP Balochistan, Asghar Khan Achakzai, and leaders of the party participated in the function.
“Culture and history need to be preserved”, Asghar Khan Achakzai stated. He urged upon the people to protect culture and history by the dint of information technology and media.
People wearing traditional Pashtoon turbans in Quetta
Political leaders, members of civil society, traders and people belonging to various walks of life were wearing traditional Pashtoon turbans to mark the day. During functions, the youngsters danced on the traditional attan (Pashto traditional dance) on the beat of drums.
However, aged people also danced on the traditional beat of drums. People took a keen interest in the historical things displayed in stalls established during functions organized in the city.
