Painting Competition about Polio Awareness held in Quetta

A polio awareness painting competition held in Quetta’s Boy Scouts to sensitize the parents and children about the crippling virus. Students from various schools of Quetta participated in the painting competition.
Through their paintings, the students made good attempts to sensitize parents, government functionaries, members of civil society, and political activists regarding the poliovirus. “Painting plays an important role regarding polio awareness”, Nadeem Feroz, the communication officer polio control program said.
During the competition, girls students clinched all three positions. Kubra, a student from girls high school Mominabad Hazara Town got the first position in the painting competition. Kainat Batool from girls high school Hazara Town got the second position and Saadia Khan from government lady Sandeman school got the third position during the painting competition. “For me, this is the happiest day”, Kainat Batool who got the second position told Quetta Voice.
Talent in Balochistan
“No dearth of talent in Balochistan”, Saqib Kakar, the Additional Deputy Commissioner Quetta said. If given the opportunity, students from Balochistan can prove themselves on the national and international levels at all forums, Mr. Kakar said.
The Emergency Operation Cell (EOC), UNICEF, and the government of Balochistan had organized the painting competition to create awareness among the people regarding the crippling virus. Children can play an important role in the eradication of the poliovirus through paintings.
Balochistan reported 23 cases
Balochistan has reported 23 cases of the crippilng virus during the current year. Most of the cases of the poliovirus reported from Quetta, Killa Abdullah, and Pishin districts of Balochistan. UNICEF, EOC, the government of Balochistan continue to pump resources to eradicate the virus. However, the virus still exists in Quetta and other districts of Balochistan in spite of three decades of anti-polio campaigns.
