Dukki: A coal miner killed as landslide hits a mine

A coal miner killed in Balochistan’s Dukki district when a landslide struck a mine on Saturday morning. The miner was working deep inside the mine when a landslide struck, Levies sources said. The landslide killed a coal miner identified as Obaidullah a resident of Afghanistan.
A portion of the mine caved in as the victim was digging deep inside the mine. Miners from neighboring mines launched a rescue operation on their own and retrieved the dead body of their colleague, Levies mentioned.
Levies said the dead body shifted to district headquarters hospital Dukki. Levies said Obaid was a young man working inside the coal mines of Dukki extracting coal for the last few years.
Dukki has rich coal-reservoirs. However, hazardous working conditions inside coal mines continue to claim precious human lives. Such untoward incidents have almost become the order of the day in Dukki and other parts of Balochistan.
