Quetta: Lawyers protest against DC office officials

Lawyers on Wednesday staged a protest demonstration against some officers of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Quetta’s office. Lawyers accused some officers of the registrar’s office of taking bribery from the people. The registrar’s office has the mandate to register properties located in the commercial hub of Quetta city.
“We protest against increasing ratio of bribery in the registrar office”, Naseebullah Tareen Advocate, a senior lawyer said. He said the concerned officers of the DC office adopted an inappropriate attitude towards Najeebullah Kakar what he claimed when the lawyer turned down the demand of the officials. Despite repeated attempts, the Quetta Voice was not able to speak to the deputy commissioner about his reaction to the incident.
The Spokesman government of Balochistan, Liaquat Shahwani met the protesting lawyers and issued them addressing their grievances. “We will not spare the responsible officer”, Mr. Shahwani said. He requested the lawyers to open the road since common people were suffering from its blockade.
Lawyers blocked the main chowk leading towards Governor House, CM Secretariat
The lawyers staged a protest demonstration at the main GPO Chowk and blocked the road leading towards the Governor’s House and Chief Minister’s Secretariat Balochistan. The city witnessed the worst traffic jam as a result of the lawyers’ protest.
“Bribery at its peak in registrar’s office”, Wali Khan Nasar, another senior lawyer claimed. He said a delegation of the lawyers visited the office of the deputy commissioner to apprise him about the situation. Despite our request for a meeting, the DC refused to meet us, Wali Khan Nasar said.
The lawyers staged a prolonged protest demonstration and chanted full-throated slogans against the concerned officers. They demanded of the deputy commissioner Quetta ensure the immediate transfer of the said officials.
