Ziarat receives first snowfall of winter

Balochistan’s tourist town Ziarat received winter’s first snowfall on Friday morning. The snowfall started in the morning and continued for some time. All mountains of Ziarat covered with white carpet.
Tourists thronged towards Ziarat to enjoy the weather after the snowfall. However, locals preferred to be at their homes because of the chilly weather. “Snow is on time and it will improve our orchards”, Muhammad Yaqoob, a resident of Ziarat said.
People complained about low gas pressure
Residents of Ziarat however complained about low gas pressure in the chilly weather. “The gas company has created son many problems for us”, Mr. Yaqoob complained.
Ziarat houses the world’s second-largest juniper forest. Thousands of years old ancient trees are located in Ziarat. “Gas pressure should be maintained so that people could not opt for deforestation”, Amjad Rasheed, a well-known environmentalist says.
Quetta also receives slight snowfall
Apart from Ziarat, Quetta city has also received slight snowfall of the year. All mountains surrounding the city covered with white-carpet. After the snowfall, the weather turned cold in Quetta and surrounding areas. Citizens of Quetta also complained about low gas pressure in various parts of the city. “Since morning, there is no gas supply”, Muhammad Aslam, a resident of Pashtoonabad complained.
Quetta and different parts of Balochistan have witnessed drought-hit situation for more than a decade. Drought severely affected the standing crops. “Snow and rainfall would help the agriculture sector”, Haji Abdul Rehman Bazai, the central leader of the growers’ action committee said.
As per the weather forecast, chilly weather expected to prevail in Quetta and other parts of Balochistan.
