QUETTA: The Chief Minister Balochistan Jam Kamal Khan has said his government was determined to reduce the increasing child mortality rate in the province. The Chief Minister inaugurated child emergency ward on Thursday at civil hospital Quetta. provincial ministers, senior officers of the health department also accompanied the chief minister on the occasion.
“Child mortality rate is a major challenge for us”, the chief minister said. A child emergency ward has been set up in collaboration with Child Life Foundation to overcome this alarming issue, he said. The chief minister was thoroughly briefed about the establishment of child emergency ward established with the support of Child Life Foundation.
In this ward, newly born infants would be kept with 24 hours facility. Within three minutes after reporting of the child case, the process of treatment would be started immediately, the chief minister was informed.
Modern equipment, life saving drugs and all facilities would be provided in the ward established to protect the lives of newly born infants. In the ward, SMS service has also been introduced to make sure better coordination between parents and doctors.
Especially, the doctors have been trained to deal with parents in a polite manner. The ward has been established on the basis of no profit and no loss. The Balochistan government has committed to provide 10 crore rupees annual grant and 27 districts hospitals and 10 tehsil hospitals would be linked with ward through Satellite system.
Through this satellite system, the newly born kids of remote areas would be treated through tele medicines, the chief minister was told.
The Chief Minister on the occasion directed the concerned authorities to step up efforts to make sure satellite link between ward and hospitals across the province.
