In Balochistan’s Killa Abdullah district, 10 levies men have been suspended for mocking and torturing a young man. The levies personnel put a chain around the neck of the young man and subjected him to violence.

The video went viral on social media platforms causing outrage. People termed it a barbaric and inhuman act on the part of levies personnel in the Killa Abdullah district.  “Yes, we have suspended 10 levies personnel for torturing the young man”, Zakaullah Durrani, the acting deputy commissioner said. The levies personnel have been taken into custody to probe into the incident.

The incident happened at Garang check post

Mr. Durrai stated that the incident took a place at the Garang Checkpost located at the Quetta-Chaman highway. The highway links Pakistan with neighboring Afghanistan.

“An inquiry ordered against the levies personnel”, the acting DC informed. Levies had subjected the young man to violence and put a chain around his neck. This incident came in the limelight hours after two levies men filmed and killed a donkey in Balochistan’s Mastung district.

2 Levies men already suspended for killing filming a donkey

The deputy commissioner Mastung had also suspended 2 levies men for killing and filming a donkey and ordered an inquiry. The acting DC Killa Abdullah also informed that a committee also established to probe into the incident. Commissioner Quetta Division, Asfandyar Khan also directed a fair investigation into the incident. The commissioner had earlier recommended abolishing 7 levies check posts located in district Killa Abdullah and district Pishin. The Balochistan government had also formed a committee to rationalize the establishment of check posts located on all highways of the province.
