Kohlu: Landmine blast kills one person

A landmine blast killed a person in Balochistan’s Kohlu district on Saturday morning. The incident happened in Kahan tehsil of the district.

Sher Muhammad Marri, the Risaldar Major Levies said the blast had seriously injured Gul Khan the victim. Levies had shifted the injured man to district headquarters hospital Kohlu for medical treatment.

Injured man succumbs to injuries

The injured man succumbed to injuries in the hospital because of excessive bleeding, doctors said.

Marri said unknown miscreants had planted the anti person mine on the roadside. The victim was passing in the area when he stepped on the mine. There was a huge blast seriously injuring the victim, Sher Muhammad Marri mentioned.

Bomb disposal squad also called in the area to conduct sweeping of the entire area to avert another terrorist incident.

Levies personnel reached the spot as investigation into the incident went underway. The dead body handed over to the heirs after the postmortem.

Kohlu is one of the sensitive districts of Balochistan. Miscreants in the past have targeted security forces and civilians in the area through improvised explosive device attacks and landmines.

Levies and other law enforcement agencies have recently intensified operations against the miscreants involved in subversive activities in the area. Levies have seized huge catche of arms and ammunition in the area.
