Ali Khan Mandokhail :

ZHOB: Chief Minister Balochistan, Jam Kamal Khan on Monday said former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif only put a plaque on the western route. Addressing tribal elders at Irfan Kasi Stadium, he said the previous government failed to launch development projects in Balochistan.

“Nawaz Sharif only put plaque somewhere here at the Western route”, he said. Jam Kamal stated that the present federal government under PM Imran Khan has approved the Western route from Kuchlak to Zhob as a part of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Past governments launched projects on a political basis

The Chief Minister stated that previous governments launched development projects on a political basis in the province. “Up till now, those projects cannot be completed”, he mentioned.

Jam Kamal said the issues faced by tribesmen because of fencing on the Pak-Afghan border would also be addressed.

Earlier, the CM inaugurated the Zhob-Mir Alikhail road at the district headquarters Sherani. The construction of roads would open new vistas of development and prosperity in the region.

Sherani district headquarter still not functional despite spending billions of rupees

The CM however expressed concern over the non-functioning of the infrastructure of the Sherani district’s headquarter. He said over Rs. 4 billion have been spent and there was population. “No use of this huge infrastructure constructed through masses’ money”, Jam Kamal said.

The Deputy Commissioner Sherani briefed the CM about the district. “I am the only resident of this district headquarter”, he said.

Sherani given status of the district in 2004

The Balochistan government had given Sherani area the status of district in 2004. The provincial government has constructed huge infrastructure but with no use. The district that houses over 1,53,000 people has not benefited from the huge infrastructure.

“How can people come to you when there is no connectivity”, the CM asked the DC Sherani. He said, first of all, the previous government had to construct a road and then construct this infrastructure.
