Syed Ali Shah:

QUETTA — Balochistan Governor Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhail expressed severe concern over the accelerating outflow of high-level academic talent from the province during the annual White Coat Ceremony at the Balochistan University of Health and Medical Sciences (BUHMS).

Addressing the gathering, Governor Mandokhail revealed that persistent recruitment hurdles and delayed permanent appointments have forced more than 100 senior professors and Ph.D. scholars to abandon their posts in the region.

”This ongoing brain drain threatens the fundamental quality of higher education and advanced research across our public universities,” Mandokhail stressed. “We must act swiftly to establish competitive incentives and structural reforms that keep our senior scholars here while drawing top-tier research talent back to Balochistan.”

Provincial Education Minister Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani highlighted the government’s push to strengthen institutional standards, calling on the incoming medical class to pair scientific rigor with compassionate public service throughout their careers.

Welcoming the fresh cohort, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Shabir Lehri underscored BUHMS’s ongoing drive to expand clinical training facilities. He reminded students that putting on the white coat represents a solemn commitment to medical ethics, patient advocacy, and lifelong learning.
