83 percent of fencing work completed at PakAfghan border: Balochistan Minister

QUETTA: Home Minister Balochistan, Mir Ziaullan Langove on Tuesday said 83 percent of fencing work at the Pak-Afghan border completed currently. Mr. Langove chaired a high-level meeting with regard to the fencing of the Pak-Afghan border.

Legal movement increased after fencing of border 

“Legal movement of people increased after fencing of the border”, the minister said. He mentioned that the number of terrorist acts also decreased following the fencing of the border with the neighboring country. An increase in the legal movement has improved bilateral trade between the two countries, the minister stated.

Senator Manzoor Kakar, Captain (R) Khaliq Achakzai, Additional Chief Secretary Home, Hafiz Abdul Basit, Commissioner Quetta Division, Asfandyar Khan, DIG Police Azhar Akram, Commandant FC Colonel Muhammad Rashid, and other high ups attended the meeting.

213km fencing of the border completed so far and remaining 27km would be fenced off, the officials informed the meeting. The meeting thoroughly reviewed issues relating to the border.

The meeting decided to address the grievances of tribesmen living on both sides of the border in the aftermath of the fencing. The meeting directed the district administration and board of revenue to file reports regarding the settlement issues at the border.

Tribal elders to be taken on board about settlement issues 

Speaking on the occasion, the Home Minister said, ‘all tribal elders would be taken on board regarding the fencing of the border and settlement issues“. He underlined the need for boosting people to people contact between the people of the two countries.
