QUETTA: Polio virus has been confirmed in a two year old child in Balochistan’s Zhob district on Wednesday morning. The child belongs to a family, which had refused to administer polio drops to the kid, an official of the Balochistan health department who declined to be named since he was not authorized to speak to media told Quetta Voice.

The number of polio cases rises to five during the current year. The samples of the child were collected and sent to laboratory on February 26 and 27th for test. The laboratory declared the samples positive, the official informed. Last year the number of polio cases was 12.

Polio teams in Balochistan have been targeted repeatedly by terrorists.
