CM Balochistan convinces Sardar Khan Rind to withdraw from Senate poll

Chief Minister Balochistan, Jam Kamal Khan on Tuesday evening succeeded in convincing Sardar Khan Rind to withdraw from the senate poll. Sardar Khan Rind is the son of Pakistan Tehrik e Insaf (PTI) Balochistan chief, Sardar Yar Muhammad Rind.

“Now we are in a better position to maintain a majority in the senate”, Jam Kamal told reporters at the residence of Sardar Rind. Other provincial ministers and leaders of the ruling Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) also accompanied the chief minister.

Sardar Rind announces withdrawal from senate poll 

“I announce the withdrawal of my son from senate election”, Sardar Rind said. Speaking on the occasion, Sardar Khan Rind mentioned, “opposition was a major beneficiary of my contest, therefore, I decided to withdraw”.

Jam Kamal however assured that the ruling coalition would ensure the success of its candidates in the senate elections. “Sardar Rind has never spoken about his individual interest”, the Chief Minister said. He said the PTI leader has always spoken about the rights of the people of Balochistan.

Sitara Ayaz also withdraws from the race 

The withdrawal of Sardar Khan Rind from the senate poll came hours after the withdrawal of Sitara Ayaz from the race.

The ruling coalition comprising BAP, PTI, ANP, HDP, and BNP Awami has fielded candidates to make the sure victory of its candidates. However, the component parties of the anti-government alliances including BNP Mengal and JUI F have also been testing muscles to win more seats.

In Balochistan, the ruling coalition enjoys the support of 42 legislators whereas, the opposition parties have 23 legislators including former chief minister Nawab Aslam Raisani. The number of legislators in the Balochistan Assembly is 65.
