QUETTA: The Balochistan government has quarantined 4500 people including Zaireen (shia pilgrims), traders, tourists and students at Pak-Iran border Taftan to halt the spread of novel corona virus. However, people complain about lack of basic facilities at quarantine centers.
“We are trying to facilitate people at all quarantine centers”, Liaqat Shahwani, the spokesman government of Balochistan said. Some people at quarantine centers at Pakistan house Taftan, union council buildings are also trying to flee.
Law enforcement agencies have also nabbed 51 people most of them Zaireen at Mian Ghundi area of Quetta and kept them in the nearby quarantine center at Hazar Ganji. These 51 people were fleeing from quarantine centers at Pak-Iran border Taftan, a police official who declined to be named told Quetta Voice. The official was not authorized to speak to media.
The provincial disaster management authority has also stepped up efforts to provide food, medicines and other basic facilities to the pilgrims at the border. “We are monitoring the situation and providing all facilities”, Imran Zarkoon, the DG PDMA claimed. However, Amir Ali, a Shia pilgrim complained that the food’s quality was poor and washrooms inside quarantine centers was painting a bleak picture.
Nida Fatima, another Shia pilgrim also complained about lack of facilities at quarantine centers at Pak-Iran border Taftan.
In Balochistan, so far one case of corona virus has been confirmed. A 12 year old boy was tested positive for the novel corona virus. The boy belongs to Sindh’s Dadu district, Noor ullah Musakhail, the MS Fatima Jinnah chest and Tb hospital said.
