Crackdown launched against land mafia in Quetta: IG Police

The Inspector-General of Police Balochistan, Muhammad Tahir Rai has said a crackdown launched against the land mafia in various parts of Quetta city. “None would be allowed to take the law into hands”, the Police Chief said during his visit to Balochistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (BCCI) on Monday.
The police chief stated that a crackdown against the land mafia launched in the Nawan Killi area of Quetta. The government has frozen the assets of the main accused involved in the murder of a young man in Nawan Killi.
Business leaders apprised the police chief about their issues
BCCI leaders Ghulam Farooq Khilji, Abdullah Achazkai, Haji Akhtar Kakar, and others apprised the police chief about issues faced by the traders’ community in the province.
Mr. Rai informed that the murder case of jeweler Muhammad Ismail would be reopened. He mentioned that two committees on Balochistan and Quetta level would be formed with regard to maintaining law and order. Representatives of the business community would also be included in the committee to prepare recommendations in this regard, he said.
Corruption ended at highways: Police ChiefÂ
He said policemen have been stopped from checking people on national highways. “We have ended corruption on highways”, he added. The Police Chief however assured that efforts were underway to eradicate the curse of corruption from police stations as well.
