QUETTA: Dozens of drug addicts and drug peddlers have been arrested by law enforcement agencies during an operation in various parts of the city on Wednesday.

Raids were conducted in Sabzi Galli area, Mutton Market and Habib Nullah against the drug peddlers and addicts during the operation, Syeda Nida Kazmi, the Assistant Commissioner Quetta told Quetta Voice. She led the operation against the drug peddlers and addicts in the suburbs of Quetta.

Habib Nullah is considered to be the hub of the narcotics trade and safe haven for drug addicts for a long time in the city. The Nullah snakes through the high-security zone of Quetta and houses addicts from grandsons to grandfathers. “We will not tolerate this business anymore”, the assistant commissioner mentioned.

The addicts were shifted to the rehabilitation center for medical treatment. However, the peddlers were being separated and cases would be lodged against them.

“We launched an operation against addicts and drug peddlers to make Quetta a drug free city”, Syeda Nida Kazmi said.

Police and Levies personnel jointly launched the operation and no untoward incident was reported during the crackdown. Law enforcers demolished dozens of safe heavens of drug peddlers during the operation.
