CHAMAN: Traders community and businessmen have demanded of the Prime Minister, Imran Khan to allow trucks carrying imports from Afghanistan to enter into Pakistan. Permission to imports would help us in these crucial times, Haji Asmatullah, a well-known businessman said.
Pakistan had closed its border with Afghanistan on March 2nd in the aftermath of reports of the novel coronavirus in the neighboring country. However, Prime Minister Imran Khan as a gesture of goodwill allowed the opening of the border for three days to allow the Afghans in Pakistan to enter into their country.
The trucks carrying fresh fruits should also be allowed to enter from Afghanistan into Pakistan, Asmatullah demanded. He said people of the area’s sole source of income was Pak-Afghan border Chaman and its opening and trade activities were important for livelihood here.
Pakistan has also established a quarantine center at Pak-Afghan border to quarantine the Pakistani nationals coming from Afghanistan.
