QUETTA: 73 doctors have been tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Balochistan since the outbreak of the pandemic. A senior cardiac surgeon of Quetta has also been battling the virus for last few days, this information was given by Dr. Saleem Abro, the Director-General Health Balochistan while addressing a press conference at Quetta Press Club on Thursday evening.

Dr. Abro said 10 doctors have so far recovered from the virus at their homes, however, remaining doctors have been battling the virus currently. He said 35 paramedics and 4 nurses were also tested positive for the Covid-19 in the province.

DG Health also named a well-known cardiac surgeon battling the virus.

In response to a question, Dr. Abro stated that the number of patients would rise to over 1 Million if the lockdown was not imposed in the province till July this year. “Virus continues to penetrate and our people are not taking it seriously”, the DG Health lamented. So far the virus has claimed 23 lives in Balochistan, he added.

“We have suggested the government implement strict lockdown for 15 to 20 days to contain the virus”, he said. He said all-out efforts were being made by the government to make sure the provision of health facilities to masses.
