Balochistan witnessed a sharp rise in the number of novel coronavirus cases as the Corona Cell confirmed 88 new cases in one day. A surge in cases has been recorded after the provincial government eased lockdown and allowed marriage halls, tourist points, picnic spots, shopping malls, etc to function. Cases of the virus continued to decline during the last month. However, on Wednesday, it jumped to 88 cases in a day.

With the confirmation of new cases, the tally reached 12044 in Balochistan. The virus has so far caused 138 deaths. A total of 10458 patients have recovered from the deadly virus, the statistics shared by the Corona Cell reveals. Most of the patients have recovered at their homes in isolation. However, seriously ill patients battled the virus at Fatima Jinnah Chest and General Hospital Quetta.

The health department Balochistan has conducted over 66,000 tests of the coronavirus since the outbreak of the pandemic. The government intends to improve testing capacity to reach out to maximum number of patients in the far-flung areas of the province.

Cases of the deadly virus were dropped from 400 to less than 30 at per day.
