Balochistan: Levies foils major terror bid in Kohlu

KOHLU: Levies force foiled a major bid of terrorism in Kohlu district of Balochistan province on Wednesday. Levies conducted an operation in the Soraf Nallah area of Kohlu and recovered a huge catche of arms and ammunition, Risaldar Major, Sher Muhammad Marri told a news conference. Levies conducted the operation on intelligence reports that miscreants have dumped weapons to carry out subversive activities in various parts of Balochistan, Mr. Marri mentioned.
Miscreants had dumped weapons in the Nallah to carry out subversive activities in Balochistan and other parts of the country. “We timely acted and foiled terror bid”, Risaldar Sher Muhammad said.
Weapons include IEDs, APMs, Mortar Shells, Hand Grenades
The weapons included improvised explosive devices (IEDs), anti-personal mines (APM), mortar shells, bombs, hand grenades, and thousands of rounds. Levies displayed all weapons before the reporters in Kohlu. “Operation conducted on an intelligence report”, Major Sher Muhammad informed.
Law enforcement agencies have intensified operations against banned militant groups in Kohlu and other parts of Balochistan province. Especially, levies continue to foil major terror bids in Kohlu district. In Kohlu, miscreants were targeting vital national installations and security personnel during the last one decade.
Kohlu district
Kohlu is considered to be one of the sensitive districts of Balochistan. However, terror incidents ended following the successful operations of security forces in the area. “Now Kohlu is the most peaceful district”, Sher Muhammad Marri said. A bomb disposal squad also reached the levies line to defuse all the weapons.
He however stated that no arrest made during the operation since the miscreants had fled from area after dumping the weapons. A search is underway to apprehend the culprits dumping the weapons, Mr. Marri added.
