PDM Quetta Jalsa, ban imposes on pillion riding

The Balochistan government has imposed a ban on pillion riding in view of security threat on the eve of Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) Quetta Jalsa (Public meeting). The ban would remain imposed on pillion riding for the next 24 hours, a notification issued by the Balochistan Home Ministry said.
The government has imposed a ban on pillion riding since a security threat exists in the provincial capital, the notification mentioned. Ban also imposed on display on all kinds of weapons in the city.
The anti-government alliance will hold a public meeting in Ayub Stadium Quetta on Sunday (tomorrow). This is the third public meeting after Gujranawal and Karachi on the part of the 11-party alliance.
The Balochistan government has already asked the opposition alliance to suspend its public meeting because of security threats. Liaqat Shahwani, the Spokesman government of Balochistan told Quetta Voice, “we have requested the opposition to suspend its public meeting due to existing security threats”.
NACTA issued threat-alert in Quetta and Peshawar
The National Counter-Terrorism Authority (NACTA) has issued a threat-alert in Quetta and Peshawar. In a letter widely shared on social media, the NACTA said some banned militant outfits were planning to carry out terrorist activities in Quetta and Peshawar.
However, the Pakistan Muslim League (N) leader, Maryam Nawaz said the provision of security remains the responsibility of the government. Despite security threat, the anti-government alliance has decided to hold the public meeting in Ayub Stadium Quetta.
The component parties of the PDM have made all arrangements to make the public meeting a success. Thousands of volunteers of opposition parties deployed across the city to ensure a smooth flow of traffic and movement of the people. The Balochistan government has also tightened security to maintain peace.
