Balochistan Govt to recruit 3,000 doctors on contract basis
Health Desk:
Balochistan government’s parliamentary secretary on information, Bushra Rind on Thursday said the provincial government has decided to recruit 3,000 doctors on a contract basis. Addressing a press conference, she said the government has made this decision to improve health facilities at government-run hospitals.
Bushra Rind’s statement has come a day after the Balochistan cabinet approved contract and ad-hoc appointments of doctors. However, the Young Doctors Association (YDA) has rejected the government’s decision. “We demand permanent appointments of doctors through Balochistan Public Service Commission (BPSC)”, Dr. Yasir Achakzai, the President of the YDA said.
Doctors to be appointed from 3 to 5 years
The parliamentary secretary on information informed that the health department would appoint doctors from 3 to 5 years on a contract basis. The BPSC has already launched a process of tests and interviews for the recruitment of over 1,000 male and female doctors in the province.
The main reason behind the contract appointments of doctors is to effectively tackle the second-wave of COVID19 in the province. A well-placed officer of the health department revealed that doctors would be appointed across the province to contain the deadly virus. The officer requested anonymity.
Health department portfolio with CM to control ‘mafia’
“CM has kept the portfolio of health with himself to control the ‘mafia'”, she said. Bushra Rindh noted that ‘mafias’ within education and health departments have ruined the system. She said the government has decided to recruit 3,000 doctors on a contract basis to overcome the shortage of doctors.
The Parliamentary secretary on information said a committee formed to prepare recommendations for the establishment of new sub-divisions. “We are trying to address the grievances of masses”, Bushra Rind stated.
