Pakistani masses to reject Imran, the way Americans rejected Trump: Maulana Fazal

Monitoring Desk:

PESHAWAR: Chief of Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), Maulana Fazal ur Rehman on Sunday said Pakistan masses would reject the incumbent prime minister Imran Khan, the way Americans rejected President Donald Trump.

Addressing a mammoth public meeting of the anti-government alliance, Maulana said the present government has destroyed the economy and created difficulties for the masses. “You destroyed the economy and relations with neighboring countries”, the PDM chief told a flag-waving crowd of 11 party opposition alliance in Peshawar.

Vice-President Pakistan Muslim League (N), Maryam Nawaz, Chairperson Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Pashtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party (PKMAP) Chief Mehmood Khan Achakzai, Balochistan National Party (Mengal) Chief Sardar Akhtar Mengal, National Party Chief Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch, Amir Haider Khan Hoti of the Awami National Party (ANP) and other political leaders addressed the PDM public meeting in Peshawar.

In his address, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari declared that the present government will have to go home by January 2021.

Bilawal also addressed criticism over PDM’s decision to hold the rally despite increasing Covid-19 cases, saying that the government “only remembers Covid when they want to stop our rallies and your protest”. “They don’t remember Covid when it comes to regularising medical staff or increasing salaries,” he said.

‘PDM deliberately endangering lives’

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Imran Khan lashed out at the PDM for “deliberately endangering lives [and] livelihoods” by going ahead with their rallies despite a rise in the number of coronavirus cases.

In a series of tweets, the premier said that several major cities had seen a drastic increase in the number of virus patients on ventilators.

“Increase in Covid patients on ventilators in last 15 days: Peshawar 200 per cent, Multan 200pc, Karachi 148pc, Lahore 114pc, Islamabad 65pc. Multan & Is(lamabad) Covid ventilators capacity utilisation 70pc.”
