No industries only jobs, where will money come from? Justice Mandokhail

Staff Reporter :

Chief Justice Balochistan High Court (BHC), Mr. Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail has put some questions before the provincial government during the hearing of the Grand Employees Alliance (GEA) case on Monday. “Instead of industries, the government is announcing jobs, where will the money come from”, Justice Mandokhail asked the Assistant Advocate General.

A division bench of the BHC comprising Mr. Justice Jamal Mandokhail and Mr. Justice Kamran Malakhail heard the case of GEA. Additional Chief Secretary (Home), Arshad Majeed, Assistant Advocate General, Shehaq Baloch, and GEA representatives appeared before the court.

Court dismays over the disparity in the salaries of government employees

The court dismayed over the disparity in the salaries of government employees. If the government can meet all expenditures at Rs.  31,000 then we will send the employees behind the bars, Justice Mandokhail said.

Justice Kamran Malakhail remarked that some bureaucrats were leading the country towards disaster. “Are unions struggling for the welfare of employees or blackmailing”, Justice Malakhail asked.  This question should be addressed, he added.

The court noted that on one hand, the government was complaining about lack of funds, on the other hand, it was purchasing vehicles. “Neither we support the government nor employees”, the bench clarified.

Naseebullah Tareen Advocate filed the petition in the BHC

Senior lawyer Naseebullah Tareen advocate had filed a constitutional petition with regard to the ongoing protest employees in Quetta. Employees protest has caused the worst traffic jam and affected the government functionaries in the province.

Mr. Tareen has argued that the federal government has increased the salaries of employees by 25 percent. However, the Balochistan government has not increased the salaries of the employees. “This is the violation of the constitution”, he argued in the petition.
